Project Preface

For my 3-G Minnesota-Based American Indian Project, I chose to focus on the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe. Growing up in western Wisconsin, I received a significant amount of exposure to American Indians and education about their cultures, specifically in relation to the Ho Chunk Nation. Although the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe does not extend into Wisconsin, its proximity to the eastern border of Central Minnesota made me curious as to how this group relates to the Ho Chunk American Indians regarding any shared history, culture, or present-day affairs.
